This a list of the Persistent Organic Compounds currently targeted by the Stockholm Convention. When the Stockholm
Convention was signed in 2001 and adopted in 2004, it initially recognized twelve POPs compounds, known as “the Dirty
Dozen” considered as potential endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDCs), calling for their elimination and phasing out.
Since then the list of POPs covered by the Stockholm Convention has grown over the years to include new POP compounds
and emerging contaminants which are highly toxic and causing severe damages to the ecosystem.
